Victorian Pharmacy on BBC2

Episode one of the the brand new Victorian Pharmacy series aired last night on BBC2, and it is now available on BBC iPlayer to catch up online - visit the iPlayer page to access this first episode. This programme is available online until 12th August 2010, so be sure to see it before then!

The Society's Vice-President, Professor Nick Barber, alongside historians Tom Quick and Ruth Goodman, experience life and work running a pharmacy in the 19th century.

The Society's Museum was heavily involved in the filming of the series, with researchers for the programme and the accompanying book drawing heavily on the Museum's collections and expertise. Briony Hudson, Keeper of the Museum Collections, will also appear in episodes of the 4-part series.

The programme makers, historians and phamacists will come together at a special session at this year's RPS Conference. The session will explore the heritage of pharmacy and what role the Victorian Pharmacist has in our understanding and promotion of today's pharmacy profession. Find out more about this session.
