Scottish developing practice stakeholder event
This month saw our first stakeholder event for the development
of common career pathways for pharmacists with consistent,
nationally recognised assessment and credentialing. The event
was held at the Society's Edinburgh office on the 1st July and was
part of a series of engagement events to develop these
pathways.
The objective of the day was to engage Scottish stakeholders in
the development of relevant pharmacy career paths applicable across
all sectors with consistent, nationally recognised credentialing to
help support both professional and personal development and future
workforce planning.
Following on from the work on Advanced and Specialist practice
that took place last year and a stakeholder engagement event in
London earlier this year, there was a clear need identified for a
Scottish engagement event. The day's focus was on discussion and
looked at specific needs in Scotland around the route pharmacists
could take when developing and advancing their practice and the
associated consistent recognition of this through appropriate
assessment and credentialing.
Participants at the event were mainly senior pharmacists from
across Scotland representing most of the main pharmacy sectors.
Feedback from the day was positive - it met people's expectations,
they felt the event was useful and overall a very good meeting.
