Victorian Pharmacy on BBC2

Episode one of the the brand new Victorian Pharmacy series aired last night on BBC2, and it is now available on BBC iPlayer to catch up online. The Society's Vice-President, Professor Nick Barber, alongside historians Tom Quick and Ruth Goodman, experience life and work running a pharmacy in the 19th century.


Scottish developing practice stakeholder event

This month saw our first stakeholder event for the development of common career pathways for pharmacists with consistent, nationally recognised assessment and credentialing. The event was held at the Society’s Edinburgh office on the 1st July and was part of a series of engagement events to develop these pathways.

LPF highlights

Success for West Central Scotland LPF meeting

The Parish Hall in Glasgow hosted a successful LPF Meeting on 25th March, with a wide range of members turning out to show their support. A lively discussion on what members wanted their LPF to achieve ensued and many volunteered to sit on a Transitional Steering Group.

East of Scotland LPF meeting a success

The new well-equipped, Scottish office of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society played host to its first LPF meeting on 22nd February. The meeting resulted in members agreeing that they were happy with the proposed name for the LPF and voicing their opinion on what services they felt the LPF could provide over the coming 12 months. Many key members also stepped up and volunteered to form a Transitional Steering Group.


Northern Scotland - using technology to bring pharmacists together

Overcoming the problems of long distances, lack of evening ferries and of course "the weather," individuals from NHS Highland and NHS Western Isles are now using web-technologies to video conference into Pharmacy evening meetings in Inverness.

Edinburgh & Lothians Seminars a Success

As part of their ongoing development of new initiatives the Edinburgh & Lothians Branch have been piloting Return to Work seminars to update pharmacists looking to return to work on the latest developments.

NHS Forth Valley Pharmacy team lead the way in patient safety

Taking medicine in NHS Forth Valley is becoming safer – thanks to the work of local pharmacy teams who have just won several national awards for new ideas to improve patient safety.
